Stamp tells you whether a company sponsors your visa, right on the job you're looking at. It does that on your own computer, from records it carries with it. There is no account, no tracking and no ads, and nothing is sold, ever.
What Stamp reads
On LinkedIn's job pages, Stamp reads the company, the job title and the place on each job, and the description of the job you have open, so it can look them up and tell you what the records say. It reads them in your browser, from the page you're on.
If you turn on Job sites in Stamp's settings, it reads the same things on the job searches and job pages of Indeed, Glassdoor and ZipRecruiter. If you turn on Company job pages, it reads them on job pages hosted by Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby and Workday, where companies post their own jobs. Either way Chrome asks your permission first, for just those sites, and you can turn it off at any time. Stamp doesn't read any other site, your messages, your profile or your browsing history.
What Stamp keeps
Your choices stay in your browser, in Chrome's own storage for extensions: where your passport is from, which visas to show, whether to show green cards and E-Verify, how the list is shown, the companies you searched lately and their logos. They never leave your computer. Removing Stamp removes them.
The one thing Stamp ever sends
If an answer looks wrong, you can press Not right? and send a report. Nothing is sent until you press Send, and Stamp shows you every field before you do. A report holds exactly this:
- Company
- the company on the job
- Job and place
- the job's title and where it is
- What Stamp said
- the answer it showed
- Showing
- the visas, green cards or E-Verify you had on
- What's off
- what you marked as wrong
- Your note
- only if you wrote one
- Version
- which Stamp you have
Reports go to Stamp's own server and are read to fix the answers in the next update. No name, email or account goes with them. Your internet address is never stored: to stop floods of reports, the server keeps only a code made from it and the day's date, which changes every day and can't be turned back into the address. To have a report removed, ask through the support link on Stamp's Chrome Web Store page.
Where the answers come from
Public U.S. government records, carried inside Stamp and updated with each version: USCIS's H-1B Employer Data Hub, the Department of Labor's H-1B, E-3 and H-1B1 filings and its green card (PERM) filings, and USCIS's E-Verify employer list. Stamp's fonts, film and music are carried inside it too, so it fetches nothing from the web while you use it.
Good to know
- Records show what a company filed before, not a promise about this job. Confirm sponsorship with the recruiter before you accept an offer.
- Stamp isn't legal advice, and isn't made by or affiliated with LinkedIn, USCIS or the Department of Labor.
- Stamp isn't meant for children and collects nothing about anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new one goes here with a new date, and nothing changes about what Stamp keeps or sends without saying so here first.
